Built in the 16th century and part of Fougères, the manor of Dérouaries has over the years retained the typical appearance of Breton manors: deadly turrets, spiral staircases, high chimneys, lime covered stonemasonry, old floor tiles. This is a mansion nestled in the heart of the countryside and the Jaunouse moors, where we give our guests a taste of the "homemade" life, an ideal place to visit the Castle of Fougères, Saint-Malo or the Mont Saint-Michel. My home is not a house but a flat and is located in a shipowner's house built in 1725. It is emblematic of traditional local architecture that almost completely disappeared in 1944 when Saint-Malo was 80% destroyed by bombing. This type of apartment is very rare and unique - I am not aware of a similar place open to the public.

Located near an ancient Roman road, our 19th century mill is typical of Finistère. We have preserved some elements like the old millstone and you can see water pass under the building. When my guests arrive, I show them the property and explain the history of the mill. I suggest places to visit, hiking trails, restaurants or shopping - or even a recipe. Those who want can come and join us hunting for shellfish, talking about the garden, discovering edible wild plants or learning to dance “fest noz”.
